Personal Description:

My name is Lucy and I'm a dedicated and experienced ESL professional. I enjoy teaching both in person and online, and have been working for the British Council as a senior teacher and content developer for the past 4 years. I enjoy teaching all levels of English from absolute beginners to advanced business professionals. It doesn't matter what your home language is, I strive to make lessons engaging and easy to understand. Lessons are 100% in English, but I do I speak French to C1 level and have extensive experience teaching francophone students both in person and online.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years experience delivering high-quality English language education in higher education (university) and community settings. For the past 4 years I've been teaching online for the British Council as a senior teacher and content developer. I'm an experienced IELTS speaking examiner and have prepared students across the globe for this exam with exceptional results. I regularly train new ESL teachers who take the Trinity CertTESOL course at the University of York and help them to develop their communicative language teaching skills, classroom management techniques and ability to develop effective materials and sessions.

My special areas of interest include: Academic English (EAP), IELTS Training and exam preparation, ESOL (vocational adult skills for life), and conversational fluency/ confidence building.

I have a proven track record of designing engaging, research-informed ESOL courses that reflect current methodologies and support diverse learner needs.
